I don't know what happened to pldt and dsl but our street had no phones and dsl for the entire weekend. We only had everything restored at 4 this afternoon. Anyway, being a completely wired family, we suddenly found ourselves at a loss...short tempers, spastic jerking of fingers on phantom mouse and keyboards, obsessive checking of time and bemoaning missed turns on online games, losing wars and quests, etc.
For my family, the internet is for --
My dad uses the internet to manage his stock portfolio.
My mom emails and plays various online games.
My older sister plays Runescape and Torn.
My other older sister (who's married and doesn't live with us anymore) plays various online puzzles.
My older brother plays a lot of those turn-based games (and porn?).
My younger brother uses it for email, social networking, special interest chatrooms (including porn?) and games.
I do email, chat, facebook, blog, and my games...Kado kado, Caverns of Hammerfest and Natural Chemist. I also sometimes log in to Ruins of Chaos and Kings of Chaos.
Finally, we're all back online. Everyone's quite content and all you can hear (if you're not wearing your skullcandy) will be the frantic tapping on keyboards and clicking mice. Aaaaaahhh, the family that internets together stays together.
